During one of our tattoo sessions, Gaia started asking me about the tattoo on my forearm: an infinity symbol with my kids’ names in it. I got it 5 or 6 years ago and while it wasn’t my favorite tattoo, it wasn’t something I couldn’t part with. Gaia suggested doing something more special than just having my kids’ names on my arm. She asked if each of them had something special that they loved, and my answer was an emphatic yes. My oldest has a frog and a bear that he’s been dragging around for 13 years. My middle son has a blanket he calls Little B that he has loved since he was a baby and still sleeps with. My daughter has a “lovey” named Lovey Senior that she attached to when she was 2 months old and she still can’t sleep without it. These stuffed animals and blankets mean so much to my kids, and honestly I think I love these inanimate objects as much as they do. They’ve lost them, and I’ve gone to great lengths to find them. If you’re a parent with a child who has something like this, you know how important they are. So this tattoo is a better tribute to my kids than just their names. Thanks again to Gaia at Mr. Shorty’s Tattoo Emporium!
